INSTALL & MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT | February 20, 2020

Fern Hill Landscaping & Nursery is seeking a motivated and experienced Install & Maintenance Assistant to join our team. We are a small company based in Richmond, Virginia focused on sustainable landscape design, installation and maintenance. The position being offered is a full-time, year-round job. As an Install & Maintenance Assistant, you will work alongside the owner, other employees, and subcontractors to install projects and maintain our client’s properties to the highest standards. Quality of work is paramount and attention to detail is a must.

 

This position is intended to develop and prepare the right candidate for a role as Install & Maintenance Lead, which will involve project and maintenance management with greater autonomy.


Location:  Richmond, VA

Hours:  40 hrs. / week (may be more in high season, less in winter)

Pay:  $30,000 / year

        401k

        Paid vacation and holidays

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to, the following):
 

  • Work collaboratively with the owner, other employees, and subcontractors to provide exceptional service and meet company goals and deadlines

  • Transport self and employees to and from job sites in company vehicles

  • Source and pick up materials, or schedule deliveries

  • Install hardscaping and light carpentry

  • Mulching, weeding, pruning and other landscape maintenance

  • Planting trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials, vegetables, grasses, sod, etc.

  • Occasional leaf cleanup and lawn mowing

  • Aerating & over-seeding lawns

  • Service & maintain equipment and tools


Requirements:

  • 2+ years landscaping experience

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in horticulture or related field preferred

  • Efficiency while maintaining attention to detail

  • Ability to regularly lift 50+ pounds

  • Ability to drive company vehicles and tow trailers

  • Ability to interact with clients in a positive and friendly manner

  • Clean driver’s license

  • Punctuality

  • Proficiency in using lawn & garden equipment
